Francisco Coll García is one of the leading composers in today’s musical landscape. This new album is a musical portrait and includes works composed along fourteen years, from 2009 to 2023. The only pupil of Thomas Adès, his music has been already performed by most important orchestras and such soloists as Kirill Gerstein and Patricia Kopatchinskaja.

Emlyn Stam, artistic leader of NEuE: “Christopher has conquered one of the most virtuosic dazzling oboe concertos ever written. Coll is a composer with a fascinating signature combining influences from Spanish and Sephardic music with a textural sense for the avant- garde.”

The album already got some nice reviews:

Scherzo, Pablo L. Rodríguez (Spain): This excellent recorded portrait of Coll spans from solo piano music to works for small instrumental ensembles. It benefits from the interpretation of a stellar group of virtuoso musicians from the Dutch ensemble New European Ensemble (NEuE).

Opusklassiek, Siebe Riedstra (Netherlands): All in all, a magnificent CD, not least due to the contribution of the New European Ensemble and conductor Tito Muñoz, who have clearly poured their heart and soul into the interpretation of these demanding scores. Karel Bruggeman (remember that name) was solely responsible for a brilliant recording. A well-crafted design, featuring two images of paintings by Coll and liner notes by Benjamin Poore from music publisher Faber, rounds off the whole package impeccably.
