Nuts garden concert

nuts garden and nuts huis

In recent years, the Nutshuis garden has proved to be the ultimate setting for a relaxing afternoon listening to impassioned concerts. A great location in the middle of the city, but without all the noise,... in short: ideal for a Saturday afternoon concert

On Saturday 29 June flutist Felicia van den End and percussionist Pepe Garcia will give the starting signal for our garden concerts, with a program filled with music from around the world. Ancient works will be heard side by side to brand new compositions. Pepe, who explores the boundaries of sound with ‘Slagwerk Den Haag’, will give you a taste of how much music is hidden in his collection of natural objects, such as rocks, wood, and sea shells.

Program 29 June

Donkey jaw (Mexican traditional)

Manuel de Falla - Nana

Composition for natural objects by Pepe Garcia

Steve Reich - Clapping Music

Ravi Shankar - L’Aube Enchantee

Astor Piazzola - Tango

Mexican Jarocho-music

Het Nutshuis is an independent podium for art, culture and society. It is based in a former bank building, which served as the head office of the Nutsspaarbank te ’s-Gravenhage from 1921 to 1992. Het Nutshuis is continuing the ideology of Het Nut, a 19th-century citizens’ initiative that supported the ’development and elevation of the common man’.
