Heinz Robert Holliger (born 21 May 1939) is a Swiss oboist, composer and conductor. He is celebrated for his virtuoso style of playing, and is internationally recognized as one of the best oboe players alive. Multiple composers have written works for him. He is an acclaimed conductor and composer and received multiple awards for his work.
In 2019, the New European Ensemble has invited the legendary Swiss oboist, conductor and composer Heinz Holliger to the Netherlands for a remarkable celebration of his 80th birthday. Holliger will be featured as a composer, oboist and conductor in a number of his great ensemble works. He will perform works with the ensemble that were composed by his close friends Elliot Carter, György Ligeti and Witold Lutosławski.
