Muziekgebouw aan t ij

The Muziekgebouw – founded in 2005 – is the most important stage in the Netherlands for contemporary music. The ceiling, walls, chairs and floor of the main concert hall are all flexible and moveable, which make it a very suitable hall for intimate chamber music as well as bigger ensembles. Musicians and critics acknowledge the excellent acoustics.

From the 4th to the 6th of October the New European Ensemble will pay tribute to the internationally renowned composer Sofia Gubaidulina. With a concert in Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ in Amstterdam and a full day of concerts in Festival Dag in de Branding in The Hague, the ensemble will present a retrospective of her work. Early works like Concordanza will be performed alongside her more recent spiritually-charged and intimate masterpieces like Repentence and Sotto Voce.
